Josh’s Hungarian Dipping Sauce
(for fried chicken, chicken strips and more)

What is Hungarian Sauce?
Well, I am happy to answer this question, but first, let me tell you what it’s not. It’s not Hungarian! You will not find this sauce at a chicken joint in Budapest! Sorry to disappoint you. This is however, a Hungarian “inspired” dipping sauce for fried chicken or chicken strips. There’s the key word, “inspired.”
Hungarians do utilize paprika in a lot of their dishes. There’s Hungarian Goulash, it has paprika in it. There’s Hungarian Chicken Paprikash, a chicken dish in a creamy paprika sauce, super good by-the-way! I have my recipe of that here on this website. You can find it here. This is the dish that inspired my Hungarian dipping sauce as I like to call it. It’s a dairy based creamy paprika sauce. Of course it has paprika, but it also has other spices too. See the recipe below
You will notice in the recipe that I call for Spicy Hungarian Paprika. You may ask if you can use regular paprika or smoked paprika instead. You can use it, but the flavor may be a bit underwhelming. This sauce is suppose to have a kick. You can purchase Spicy Hungarian Paprika at some European stores, or you can buy it on Amazon.
